Rilegno is the national consortium that deals with the collection, recovery and recycling of wooden packaging. It was founded in 1997 following the entry into force of Legislative Decree no. 22 of 1997, the so-called Ronchi Decree, which provides for a new management system based on separate collection and aimed at encouraging the collection, reuse, recovery and recycling of raw materials. Rilegno operates within the Conai system (National Packaging Consortium) and has the task of ensuring the achievement of the objectives set by law for the overall recovery of post-consumer wooden packaging such as pallets, boxes, crates, cages and cable reels coming both from the separate collection implemented by municipal administrations and from the collection carried out by private operators in industries and large retailers.
