Reduce the use of virgin raw materials for the production of paper;

Encouraging industrial symbiosis, to encourage circular production models

description

The Crush UVA card is a ecological paper which, thanks to the use of organic by-products of wine processing as a raw and second material, it guarantees a savings of 15% of virgin fibers compared to traditional paper.

Born in 2012 (together with the other cards in the same range), is the result of the industrial symbiosis between the wine and paper sectors.

Furthermore, Crush paper is FSC certified, made with 100% renewable energy, without GMOs, contains 40% post-consumer recycled and its carbon footprint is reduced by 20% compared to traditional paper. Thanks to a Carbon Offset action, the non-avoidable residual emissions generated to produce this ecological paper are fully offset by Carbon Credits acquired to finance activities aimed at improving the environment capable of absorbing C02 In the atmosphere

How was this card created?

The residue from the first processing of grapes is pomace, a by-product deriving from the pressing of grape berries, mostly recovered and used to produce distillates. Other by-products are generated from distillation: grape seeds, grape seeds, and grape seeds Decolated pomace.

The dealcoated pomace is dried and micronized: the flour obtained in the dedicated mill (in Favini's Rossano Veneto plant), is mixed with water and natural fibers to produce a unique ecological paper: Crush Grape.

Applications and technical notes

Crush paper can be used and transformed to create different applications, such as packaging and catalogs, coordinated images, labels, invitations and notebooks. Crush Uva is also available in the 90 label version, perfect for printing moisture-resistant labels.

It exists in the following grammages: (g/m2) 90, 100, 120, 250 and 350.

It exists in the 72x102 cm format.

A look beyond:

In addition to the by-products deriving from grape processing, the papers in the “Crush” range are also made from residues of kiwis, corn, coffee, almonds, hazelnuts, olives, citrus fruits, cherries and lavender, for the production of ecological papers.

considerazioni di ricerca

Paper has quite high costs, which place it in the world of 'luxury'.

It would be interesting to encourage wineries to use their by-products for the packaging of one or more ranges of their wine, so as to “close the circle” in a virtuous and commercially expendable way.
