The peasant economy has never foreseen waste. Let's stop throwing everything away and let's not throw away even a moment like this

• Reduce the negative impacts of special waste
• Create the first large scale circuit in Italy to give a second life to the liner, avoiding - as happens in most cases - that it ends up in the MSW.
The project RECIC.LINER focuses on recovery of the post-labeling waste liner, or the siliconized support of self-adhesive labels. This material represents a hidden element of wine production, which cannot be recycled with plain paper because it contains silicone. Commonly, the liner is treated as a special rejection, but it is often burned or disposed of in the unsorted.
How does the recycling process work? Thanks to the collaboration with Bra Services, the liner is collected and transported to a specialized plant in Germany, since in Italy there are still no plants capable of separating and recycling this material. The process, although complex, is highly efficient: a chemical-physical process separates the paper part from the silicone, allowing it to recover almost 100% of the material. The result? The liner becomes glue and recycled paper, creating new products and significantly reducing environmental impact.
The goal for 2025 is to expand the project to all wineries in the Langhe and Roero — and why not, to all of Piedmont — to increase the amount of recycled liner. But not only that: the aspiration is also to sensitize institutions, so that they invest in a recycling station in Italy, thus reducing consumption and environmental costs related to transport abroad.
How to take part in the RICIC.LINER project?
The process is simple: just join The Strong Ring and pay for the services that will help manage the entire process. Each company will receive a carton box to collect the liners, which must be free of labels and perfectly clean. The collection will take place once a year, and at the end of the process a certificate will be issued certifying the amount of recycled material.

2021
L'Anello Forte is an imperative: let's stop throwing everything away! L'Anello Forte is an association of women who work in the vineyards and cellars of the Langhe and Roero, together for a circular community economy. This group of women, working in wineries in the Langhe, start thinking about their waste and how they could reuse it. They participate in a call thanks to the help of a social startup incubator. They don't win it but by working on it, they are able to identify selection criteria, objectives, alliances, and to understand the methods of recycling and reuse. They explore the paths already taken by other companies. Above all, they understand the complexity of the topic. They meet people who for various reasons deal with the reuse of waste and start designing. But the SARS-CoV-2 virus stops everything, their project and the whole world. 2021 seems like the year of the restart, vaccines arrive, new hopes and new projects animate political and social life. At the end of the pandemic that changed our horizons and the perception of life, of social relationships and of the world, let us not be unprepared, as Prime Minister Mario Draghi said. This moment offers incredible opportunities. Not only to rethink a development model but to do, to take concrete actions that put an end to the unprecedented waste that has characterized recent decades.
